Are you claiming all the support you're entitled to?

We want to make it easier for you to access the financial support you're entitled to. One of the ways we do this is by using a secure tool called the Low Income Family Tracker (LIFT).

How the tool helps you

The LIFT tool helps us identify when you may be:

  • Missing out on any benefits or support
  • Struggling with rising costs
  • Eligible for additional help

This means we can contact you with relevant support, tailored to your situation.

Why are we contacting you about support you're eligible for?

Many people don't realise what they're entitled to or how to apply.

Using this approach, councils across England have helped residents access millions of pounds in unclaimed benefits, including Pension Credit, Free School Meals and reduced broadband and water tariffs.

Your data and privacy

We take your privacy seriously.

We:

  • Only use information you have previously provided to us
  • Use information to identify support you may benefit from
  • Keep information secure and follow data protection laws

Your information is never sold or used for commercial purposes.

What happens next?

You may be contacted by us by text, email, phone or letter if:

  • We think you could be eligible for support
  • We can help you increase your income

Any contact we make with you will be clear and supportive. You can choose whether to act on it or not. Contact made by:

  • Letter will have the Sunderland City Council logo
  • Text message will be from 'SUNGOVUK'
  • Email will be from Sunderland City Council
