Another important role of the Mayor, a one the Mayor is always very passionate about, is to support a few local good causes.

Each year the Mayor promotes their chosen charities and raises funds for them by hosting charity events throughout their year in office.

This year the Mayor has chosen to support Sunderland and County Durham Society for the Blind, Hope Spring and NSPCC Childline Service.
