Mayor's fundraising
Another important role of the Mayor, a one the Mayor is always very passionate about, is to support a few local charities and good causes.
Each Year the Mayor promotes their chosen charities and good causes and raises funds for them by hosting charity events throughout their year in office.
The Mayor for 2023-24, Councillor Dorothy Trueman is supporting Special Lioness and Hug in a Bag. Special Lioness is a Sunderland-based charity started in 2020 that supports families with disabled children, and Hug in a Bag was founded in Sunderland in 2006, providing information and gift packs to people diagnosed with breast cancer.
