MECC Financial Wellbeing Training
If you support people in Sunderland and have conversations about health, wellbeing, or money, there is free MECC Financial Wellbeing training available to help you feel more confident talking about money worries and signposting people to the right support.
MECC (Making Every Contact Count) Financial Wellbeing training is designed to help you understand how financial wellbeing affects health and to provide practical tools to have supportive conversations.
Training is delivered in the following ways:
Introduction to MECC Financial Wellbeing E-learning
A 30-minute online course which introduces the link between money and health. The session covers:
- The impact of financial wellbeing on physical and mental health
- Exploring attitudes towards discussing money
- The MECC approach to having supportive conversations
- Increasing awareness of available support services
- How to signpost people to local and national help
This flexible e-learning can be completed at a time that suits you.

MECC Financial Wellbeing Face-to-face Training
This free 2-hour, in-person session is ideal for anyone wanting to develop their skills and confidence in talking about money. The session will help you:
- Understand the importance of financial wellbeing
- Explore barriers and attitudes towards discussing money
- Practise using the 3A's model (Ask, Assist, Act) for helpful conversations
