An election was held to elect 24 Members to Sunderland City Council on Thursday 4 May 2023.

An election for Hendon Ward took place on 15 June 2023.

Voter ID

The UK Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station at some elections. This new requirement applied for the first time in England at the local elections on Thursday 4 May 2023. Photo ID is not required for postal voting.
