Family fun across Sunderland's parks this summer

A programme of free family events is kicking off this week with a special Active Sunderland Summer Family Fun session at Herrington Country Park.

FamilyFun

The event at Herrington will take place on Wednesday 27 July and will feature fun and games organised by Active Sunderland and its partners.

Activities to try out will include an obstacle course, mini golf, mini tennis, target games, giant Jenga and giant Connect 4, and much more.

Some very special guests will be leading family walks and visitors can join En-canto, Spidey, The Ice Queen and The Toys for some fun in the sun.

The family fun days will continue throughout the summer holidays and will be visiting Princess Anne Park in Washington on Wednesday 3 August, Barnes Park on Wednesday 10 August and Mowbray Park on Wednesday 31 August.

A full weekend of family fun is planned for Roker Park on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August.

Sunderland City Council's cabinet member for Vibrant City, Councillor Linda Williams, said: "These fun and free events have everything to get families active and having fun during the summer holidays.

"There is so much on offer across all areas of the city this summer and lots of opportunities for Sunderland residents to get out, get active and have fun this summer."

No booking is required and all sessions are FREE, fun, and designed to get the whole family active.
