We've got some great places to visit in Sunderland, whether it's our seafront and countryside or theatres and galleries, not to mention our shops, restaurants and caf├ęs where we can meet friends and socialise.

We take these things for granted, but for people that have difficulty getting out and about these simple tasks and pleasures can feel impossible to manage. That's why we've arranged for DisabledGo to assess more than 100 locations in the city for their accessibility.

DisabledGo is a national organisation that promotes independence and choice for people that have difficulty accessing their local area and the places we all want to visit. The results of their work can be found on their website where you'll find an Accessibility Guide for every location, all aimed at helping people with visual impairments, hearing impairments, autism, dementia, learning disabilities and mental health issues.
