Seaburn Metro and Newcastle Road CPMS
Sunderland City Council implemented the Seaburn Metro and Newcastle Road Corridor Community Parking Management Scheme (CPMS) in April 2017.
Seaburn Metro and Newcastle Road Corridor Community Parking Management Scheme 2 (CPMS2) was designed following discussions with residents, traders and stakeholders.
The main objectives of a CPMS are:
1. Address parking problems caused by visitors to the Roker Marina area
2. Improve road safety for all highway users
3. Improve access and parking for disabled people
4. Give residents some priority in parking their cars as close as possible to their property
Only vehicles displaying any of the following are entitled to park within the zone:
1. A valid parking permit
2. A voucher / scratch card
3. A valid blue badge
Any vehicle observed parking without displaying any of these may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice.
Cost of Permits
An administration fee is payable for the provision of parking permits. The fee covers the administration costs associated with permit issue and will apply for a full year or part thereof. No pro rata payments are available. All permits have an expiry date printed on them. Please see information below which details the permit period that applies for each Community Parking Management scheme.
Please note: if you purchase a permit after the commencement of the scheme year the permit will only be valid for the remaining months of that scheme year there are no pro rata payments available.
