Welcome to the International Advanced Manufacturing Park Area Action Plan (IAMP AAP) Examination in Public webpage. This webpage will be kept up to date during the examination process.  

Once adopted, the IAMP AAP will form part of the Local Plan for both Sunderland and South Tyneside Councils.  Further details of the respective Local Plans can be found at www.sunderland.gov.uk/development-plan and www.southtyneside.gov.uk/localplan.

Inspector
In accordance with section 20 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) Inspector Malcolm Rivett BA(Hons) MSc MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the IAMP AAP is sound.

Programme Officer
To assist the Inspector an independent Programme Officer, Kathryn Stule has been appointed. The Programme Officer is responsible for all procedural matters of the examination. All future correspondence with respondents regarding the examination of the IAMP AAP will be through the Programme Officer, Kathryn Stule on (0191) 561 1577 or email kathryn.stule@sunderland.gov.uk.

Submission Documents and Supporting Documents
Sunderland City Council and South Tyneside Council have formally submitted the International Advanced Manufacturing Park Area Action Plan (IAMP AAP) to the Secretary of State under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) and Regulation 22 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.

The councils submitted the IAMP AAP, Submission Documents on 6 February 2017. A number of Supporting Documents which have informed the IAMP AAP are available to view.  A full schedule of the Submission and Supporting documents can be accessed here.

Adoption of the Area Action Plan (AAP)

In accordance with Regulation 26 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended) South Tyneside Council and Sunderland City Council have adopted the International Advanced Manufacturing Park Area Action Plan on 30 November 2017.

Following the Examination in Public Hearings held between 3 - 6 April 2017, the Councils are proposing further main modifications to the IAMP AAP. Consultation on the proposed main modifications is taking place between 18 September and 30 October 2017.

The Councils have also prepared a Sustainability Appraisal addendum and a Habitats Regulations Assessment note to assess the proposed modifications. These documents can be accessed below:

At the hearings the Inspector asked the Councils to prepare draft wording of possible modifications to the plan. This has now been submitted to the Inspector for his consideration and is included on the website for information only. The Inspector is not inviting nor will accept any comments on the modifications or the supporting documents at this stage.

In the event that the Inspector concludes that the plan is potentially capable of being found sound subject to these and/or other possible modifications the relevant modifications (and any evidence supporting them) will be the subject of full public consultation.

The councils formally submitted the International Advanced Manufacturing Park Area Action Plan (IAMP AAP) and Proposed Submission Documents and Supporting Documents to the Secretary of State for Examination in Public on Monday 6 February 2017.
