The council has had to make unprecedented budget cuts in recent years, with savings in excess of £290m since 2010. The council continues to face significant pressures as a result of Government funding cuts, rising costs and increasing demand for our services.

By 2021/2022 the council has to save almost £50m in order to balance the budget.

This means we need to save approximately £375 per household.

In response to this we are continuing to review the services we provide, with further savings proposals at this stage totalling £11m. At the same time we aim to make sure those people in greatest need get as much support as possible.

We would like your views on our detailed budget proposals. Do you support our approach? Do you have any other ideas or comments which could help bridge the gap?
