Books at home service
Books at Home provides a home delivery service for Sunderland residents. If you are unable to access a library due to age, ill-health, disability or mobility problems (whether these are long-term or short-term), you can apply for the service. You are also welcome to use our e-books, e-audiobooks and e-magazine service.
How does Books at Home work?
When you join our free service you will be asked to give us an idea of what you like to read and our experienced staff will choose books for you according to your preferences.
How many items can I borrow?
You can borrow up to 12 items every four weeks. You will be informed of your delivery date well in advance.
What can I borrow?
We have books in both ordinary and large-print size, and talking books.

Volunteering for the Books at Home service
Could you spare a few hours on a regular basis to help people who are no longer able to visit their library?
If you do have some time to give, Sunderland Libraries Services would like to hear from you.
We are looking for friendly, helpful people to assist delivery of our Books @ Home service. You will need a full UK drivers licence and access to your own vehicle. Expenses will be covered.
