In response to the current situation with regards to the Covid-19 virus the Active Sunderland BIG 3K run will now take place on Sunday 27th September 2020 as part of the Run Weekend. The 5k ,10k and Half Marathon are also postponed and will take place on 26th and 27th September.

Entries will now remain open until midnight on 14th September. All entries up to this point will be valid for the new date, if any of our participants are unable to attend on the revised date please contact us at active@sunderland.gov.uk and a full refund will be issued.

The 3K run amounts to almost 4000 steps and is the final event of the Step Up Sunderland Campaign which is encouraging everyone to take small steps towards a healthier lifestyle, by being more aware of their activity levels.

The 3K run is a popular annual event, along parts of the same city centre course which the Sunderland City 10K and Half Marathon follow.

It's designed to appeal to beginner runners, families and fun runners who are keen to experience the big event atmosphere and buzz of the day. Last year more than 450 people took part in this great family event which is suitable for all runners over the age of five.
