September 2023

Celebrating Merchant Navy Day on 1 September by raising the Red Ensign at City Hall, Sunderland in the presence of special guests.  
I was honoured to unveil Phase 12 of the Veterans Walk at Mowbray Park, Sunderland.
I had a fabulous time attending the Annual Washington Carnival at Albany Park, Washington.
I officially started the Active Sunderland BIG 3K Walk 2023 which took place at Herrington Country Park.
I had the privilege of purchasing the first poppy of the 2023 Poppy Appeal on Thursday 3 October.
I visited 4th Regiment Royal Artillery at Allanbrooke Barracks, Topcliffe, Thirsk where I had the honour of presenting long service and good conduct medals to Arcot 1751 Battery Unit.

August 2023

Saturday 5 August my Consort and I had the pleasure of attending a Sunderland African Community Association event which was held in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Sunderland.
Saturday 13 August I attended Teal Park Residents Association and British Legion Dedication Ceremony for its newly established Remembrance Garden at Edale Close, Teal Farm Village, Washington.
Tuesday 16 August I was delighted to have been asked to attend Sunderland Recovery College’s Celebration Event, which was held at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland.
Friday 18 August, I attended Bryony Park Residential Home Summer Garden Party, Thompson Road, Sunderland and had a lovely time chatting to residents, family and staff.
Friday 25 August my Consort and I joined The Special Lioness, one of my chosen charities for 2023-24 on a Wet Wheels Boat Trip at Royal Quays Marina, North Shields. What an amazing afternoon, the children had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves

July 2023

My Consort and I attended the Youth Almighty Project Family Fun Day, which was held at Barnes Park, Sunderland.
My Consort and I attended the annual American Independence Day celebrations at Washington Old Hall.
I attended the Remembering Srebrenica Commemoration Service at Sunderland Minster. I’d like to thank everyone involved in the performance, especially members of Thornhill Academy Choir who gave an exceptional performance.
I hosted a Citizenship Ceremony at City Hall, Sunderland which was also attended by the High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear, Dame Irene Hays, DBE, DL.
I had the honour of officially opening the new Hetton Primary School, Moorsley Road, Hetton-le-Hole. I was delighted to be able to meet some of the wonderful pupils and complete a tour of the new facilities.
I had the honour of presenting medals to the winning recipients competing in the British leg of the World Triathlon Championship Series which was held at Marine Walk, Roker, Sunderland. What a fantastic event.

June 2023

Thursday 1 June I was delighted to have been asked to officially open Elemore Park, Easington Lane, Houghton le Spring.
Saturday 3 June, I attended the 4 Regiment Royal Artillery Memorial Event at the Cenotaph on Burdon Road, Sunderland.
Sunday 11 June, I held my Mayor’s Civic Service at Holy Trinity Church, where I was joined by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Dr Norman Taylor DL and the High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear Dame Irene Hays DBE DL along with other dignitaries from the North East
Friday 16 June, I attended annual Victoria Memorial Service in Mowbray, Park Sunderland.
Friday 23 June, I had the honour of hosting Armed Forces Day and Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall.

May 2023

On Wednesday 178 May I was inaugurated into the Office of the Mayor for the City of Sunderland at the Annual Council and Mayor Making Ceremony. I am very much looking forward to the year ahead and will be supported by my husband and Consort Harry.
Thursday 18 May I cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open RV1 the new Veteran’s In Crisis premises, 5 St Lukes Terrace, Pallion, Sunderland.
Tuesday 23 May I officially opened the Rainbow Family Hub, 34 Elliott Terrace, Hertburn NE37 3AE where I had the pleasure of meeting some of the parents and carers using some of the resources available.
Thursday 25 May I attended a Turf Cutting Ceremony to signify the new building of a new purpose bult Secondary school in Farringdon, Allendale Road, Sunderland  which will replace the old school.

April 2023

Saturday 1 April, I had the pleasure of attending the Ramadham Iftar Dinner which was held at Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre, Hendon, Sunderland.
Wednesday 12 April I was delighted to join in activities at the Sunderland Parent Carer Forum Family Fun Day which was held at the Beacon of Light, Sunderland.
Tuesday 19 April, I hosted my final Charity Evening at the Toby Carvery Barnes Park. The event was a huge success and raised the fantastic total of £1510.04p for my chosen charities, The Friends of Bunnyhill, Downhill Community Pond and Hope4All.

Friday 28 April I attended Worker’s Memorial Day which was held at Sunderland Minster, Hight Street West, Sunderland.
Friday 7 April, I attended the Good Friday Praise, which was held at Mowbray Park, Burdon Road, Sunderland, where I was delighted to be presented with a new bible to mark the occasion. Thank you to Rev David Hands MBE for organising the event.

March 2023

The Deputy Mayor and I visited HMS Explorer which was berthed at the Port of Sunderland for a few days.
I attended a Freedom of the City Ceremony,. During the ceremony the Honorary Freedom of the City was bestowed upon Gary Bennett MBE, Stephanie Darby MBE and Jill Scott MBE. Here I am presenting Stephanie with her Freedom of the City Scroll.
I had the pleasure of attending the North East Cultural Trust’s 'A Lifetime of Love’ which was held at Tyne Theatre and Opera House, Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. What a fantastic event this was.
I met students participating in the University of Sunderland’s Student Law Clinic, which was held in the Tom Cowie Lecture Theatre, St Peter’s Way, Monkwearmouth, Sunderland.
I joined the Friends of Bunnyhill and volunteers to plant 210 saplings around Castlerise, Bunnyhill to help improve the local habitat for wildlife.

February 2023

Tuesday 7 February, I had the pleasure of joining residents at Dodds Court, Blackwood Road, Town End Farm to celebrate their 40th Anniversary celebrations.
Friday 10 February I officially opened the International Junior Tennis Tournament, which was held at Sunderland Tennis Centre, Silksworth Lane, Sunderland.
Saturday 18 February, I had the honour of attending the Induction Service of Revd Jane Powell Minster to the Bede Joint Pastorate of Northern Synod. This was held at Stockton Road Unite Reformed Church, Belvedere Road, Sunderland.

January 2023

Friday 6 January I had the pleasure of attending Turntide Technologies, Barmston Court, Nissan Way, Sunderland where the Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear presented Turntide Technologies with the Queens Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2021.
Wednesday 11 January I hosted a Citizenship Ceremony in the Mayor’s Parlour, City Hall which was also attended by Mr Jeff Brown Deputy Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear.
Monday 16 January, I attended the Show Racism the Red Card School Event, which was held at the Beacon of Light, Sunderland.
Thursday 26 January, I attended the Holocaust Memorial Service which was held at Sunderland Minster, High Street West, Sunderland.
