HMRC has set up a helpline 0800 015 9559 to support businesses and self-employed individuals concerned about paying their tax due to coronavirus.

Changes linked to Coronavirus

The next self-assessment payments will be deferred until January 2021.

  • If you have not submitted your Income Tax Self-Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018-19, you must do this by 23 April 2020. You will need to do this to qualify for the Coronavirus Cash Grant for the self employed
  • Under the government's proposals VAT payments due before 30 June 2020 will not now need to be made until 31 March 2021
  • Self-assessment payments on account due on 31 July 2020 will now not need to be made until 31 January 2021
