3 November 2018 - I attended the North East Field of Remembrance Service to pay tribute to brave service men and women who served in the Armed Forces in World War I. This is the only remembrance field in the north east.

6 November 2018 - I awarded Mrs Sanderson £100 shopping vouchers as part of the Reclaim Your Lanes project. Hundreds of householders have been visited as part of the project which encourages neighbourliness.

6 November 2018 - I attended Southmoor Academy's annual Remembrance Assembly. The young people paid their own unique tribute to those who gave their lives in WWI and I had the honour of reading the "Ode of Remembrance" and lay a wreath to the fallen.

8 November 2018 - I attended the Launch of Oasis Aquila Housing's 'Giving a Home' Christmas fundraising appeal. Oasis Aquila is a homelessness charity that runs a homeless drop in centre in Sunderland City centre.

10 October 2018 - I attended Monkwearmouth Academy's Annual Awards Ceremony at the Stadium of Light. Students received an award for their achievement during the last academic year as well as delivering a performance.

11 October 2018 - A week-long exchange programme between THG Essen and Sunderland College saw a group of students visit the Stadium of Light for a tour. I met the students to find out about their experiences as part of our Twin City status with Essen.

14 October 2018 - We attended the Daft as a Brush School Proms. Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care transports outpatients, free of charge, to and from hospital who are undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy cancer treatment.

3 September 2018 - Fly the Red Ensign Flag for Merchant Navy Day honours the brave men and women who kept our 'island nation' afloat during both World Wars, and celebrated our dependence on modern day merchant seafarers, responsible for 95% of UK imports.

18 September 2018 - I opened the new offices of one of my chosen charities, Sunderland and County Durham Royal Society for the Blind. Since 2015 the Society has been providing support and services throughout County Durham as well as Sunderland.

Here I am marking the beginning of the Houghton Feast Festival 2017 by crowning the King and Queen of Eventide at Houghton Miners Welfare Hall.
Here I am opening the Houghton Feast Fairground to a group of Special Educational Needs children on Friday 6 October 2017. Each year the Showman's Guild kindly open the rides for free to these young children before the fair officially opens later in the evening.

Officially opening the newly refurbished Busy Bees Nursery on Monday 9 October 2017. A wonderful facility for the workers of Doxford International Business Park and local families to send their children to.
On Wednesday 18 October 2017 a special service took place in Castletown Cemetery for 94yr old resident, Mary Reid who since 1945, has looked after the war graves of German Soldiers who lost their lives during WWII.
