Positive Futures is an activities based social inclusion
programme which aims to build positive relationships with young
people – recognising that there are no quick wins. The Programme
is delivered locally, in the North of the City, through
partnerships with charities, schools, and police.
The project moves beyond just participation in sport and
physical activity, it delivers guidance on substance misuse,
education and other issues/interventions which are appropriate
to the young people. The project offers young people a range of
opportunities to access suitable information, advice and
guidance.
Positive Futures makes a difference to young people’s lives: it
respects young people, helps them widen their horizons and
achieve their potential. It offers opportunities for the young
people to gain accreditation across a wide range of schemes,
expanding their personal and vocational horizons. The programme
uses sport and physical activity as a catalyst to encourage
participants to make decisions for themselves, taking steps
towards a positive future, steering young people towards
educational and employment opportunities.
