Youth Inclusion Project

crime concernNorth Washington Youth Inclusion Project, a partnership with Crime Concern, offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities to promote social inclusion, increase educational attendance and attainment and reduce youth offending.

The project has developed a range of programmes which appeal to young people such as the immensely popular ‘Midnight Basketball’, in association with National Playing Fields, which combines education about health and social welfare with the promotion of sporting activity and is held at times of the day [e.g. evenings] when young people are most likely to offend.

Hard work and professionalism is paying off, with the engagement of excluded young people and those on the margins of offending, and with the development of longer-term relationships with young people initially engaged in the project. It is these relationships, above all, that will allow the Project to make a significant long-term impact on the area.
