Sustainability in Sunderland

What is sustainability?

Sustainability, or sustainable development, is about improving the quality of our lives now, in the four areas listed opposite, but without damaging the natural environment and destroying the resources that future generations depend on to have fulfilling and happy lives themselves.

Sunderland is aiming to become the most liveable city in the UK, with a sustainable future that means it will stay that way. These pages summarise what Sunderland is doing to help achieve this goal. Follow the links below to find out more.
