Children and Young People's Library Services

There are twenty libraries in Sunderland and they are all free for you to join. You can join at any age and take out up to twelve books for three weeks. For children under the age of fourteen we ask a parent/guardian to fill out a membership form. You will also find a great selection of children's talking books, videos, story cassettes and story CD's, all in safe surroundings with friendly staff to help. We also have a range of dual language books.

Study Support Groups
If you are aged between 7 - 13 years you could receive help with your homework at one of our libraries just click on the link to find your nearest study support group.

Reading Clubs
Our Reading Clubs for children aged between 8 - 12 years offer lots of different events and activities to develop and encourage a love of books and reading. Activities include storytelling sessions, author visits and themed reading.

Story Times
Each library holds story times for under 5's. We also have craft sessions during school holidays. Contact your local library for forthcoming activities.

Stories From The Web
Stories and poems to read online. If you read them all, you can write a story of your own.
