Photographs and Prints (Examples)
A collection of photographs and prints is kept in the Local Studies Centre.
Some of the illustrations can be copied, although the library does not hold the copyright for much of the collection.

Lilburne Collection
A collection of pamphlets and posters relating to Sunderland dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Corder Manuscripts
The Corder Manuscripts are unique to Sunderland; they consist of 38 hand written volumes, mostly of pedigrees and family history.  Some of the volumes give detailed histories of individual streets and houses; there are also 2 volumes devoted to the history of the shipbuilding yards.

One of the limited edition facsimile copies of the 8th century illuminated gospels is on permanent display in the library.  Pages are turned weekly.  

external link iconThe Codex Amiatinus
A replica copy of the Codex Amiatinus has been brought to the City for the first time, this is to celebrate the adoption of Benedict Biscop as Patron Saint of the City of Sunderland  Of the three Saxon Bibles produced at the twin monastery of Wearmouth and Jarrow in the 8th Century, the original Codex Amiatinus, now in Florence, is the only one that survives intact today.
