Councils are required by
law to have their own Code of Conduct for Councillors and to set up
Standards Committees to oversee this. The function of the
Standards Committee is to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by
the Members of the Council. An independent national body called the
Standards Board for England has also been
set up to oversee such matter.
The Council's Code
of Conduct sets out the principles that Councillors are expected to follow
and can be found in Part 5 of the Council's Constitution.
The address for the Standards
Board is:
First Floor,
Cottons Lane,
London
