Tackling
Anti-social Behaviour
Anti-social behaviour covers a
wide range of behaviour and can be subjective, as what is acceptable to
some people, may be unacceptable to others. It is therefore
important to be tolerant of other peoples' needs and circumstances, in
order to reduce anti-social behaviour within communities.
The Crime and Disorder act 1998 defines Anti-social Behaviour as acting
"In a manner that caused or was likely to cause, harassment, alarm or
distress to one or more persons not of the same
household"
The Chartered Institute of Housing describes it as "Behaviour that
unreasonably interferes with other peoples' rights to the use and
enjoyment of their own home and community" (Good Practice Briefing
1995)
