What is "Local Heritage" and who will the project affect?
For the purposes of this project, “heritage” encompasses everything that relates to the origins of a people or community and their cultural identity. For example it includes: the built heritage (including streets), historic landmarks and spaces, the natural environment, archaeology, art, archives, artefacts, oral history (including minority languages and dialects), memories, and social values, traditions and customs.

For the purpose of this project,  “local heritage” encompasses the heritage of all people who live or lived within the present administrative boundary of Sunderland City Council.
