About Kerb-It
Kerb-it is a new service which will allow you to store materials that can be recycled such as newspapers, magazines, junk mail, white telephone directories, glass bottles and jars, steel and aluminium cans in a separate box. These will then be collected direct from your home.
How does it work?
Each household in Sunderland (with some exceptions) will be supplied with their own recycling box. Your recycling box will be collected from outside your property, from the same point you leave your wheeled bin, unless you have received a letter advising you of an alternative collection point. The contents of the recycling box will be sorted into a separate vehicle to be taken for recycling.
How often will there be a collection?
We will collect your recyclable materials every two weeks on the same day as we collect your normal rubbish, even after Bank Holidays.
When will it start?
The first kerbside collections will start in June 2003. It will take some time for everyone on Sunderland to receive the service but, you will receive a further leaflet and your recycling box about two weeks before collections start in your area.
