The council will investigate incidents of fly tipping and where appropriate, remove and dispose of illegally dumped rubbish from footpaths, highways, pedestrian areas and other areas of council owned land.

The council will take action, which could include prosecution, against anyone who illegally dumps waste.

Fly tipping is an arrestable offence and carries a maximum fine of £50,000 and up to five years imprisonment.

Responsibility for the removal of illegally dumped waste on privately owned land lies with the landowner or tenant.
