How to get involved
The councils is hosting a series of staffed pdf icon Core Strategy and Development Plan drop-in events [44kb] across the city. 

The Core Strategy and Development Plan sets out our long-term plan for development across the city to 2033. It will ensure that the right type of development is focused in the right places to meet the needs for local people and businesses.

The Plan includes development policies and site allocations, land use designations and development management policies, together with a pdf icon Key diagram 2017 spatial strategy map [220kb] and pdf icon Policies Proposals Map 2017 [15Mb].

Draft Core Strategy and Development Plan
Public consultation on our pdf icon Draft Core Strategy and Development Plan [6Mb] is Monday 7 August until Monday 4 October 2017. Click here to have your say. Alternatively you can:

  • Download our pdf icon Core Strategy and Development Plan feedback form [81kb] and e-mail it to us at planningpolicy@sunderland.gov.uk 
  • Pick up a printed response form from the Civic Centre or one of our libraries at Houghton, Washington Town Centre and City Library @ Museum & Winter Gardens
  • Visit a consultation drop in event and send it to us at: Strategic Plans and Housing Team, Sunderland City Council, Room 2.66 Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland SR2 7DN

Responses must be received in writing by Monday 2 October 2017.
