An exciting project in Sunderland where individuals can go out into the countryside and perform practical tasks, such as repairs to fences, lay paths etc, is the Sunderland Countryside Rangers (SVCR).The rangers work throughout the region, some expenses are paid and training is given.

The SVCR recently completed a major job.  They had less than two weeks to carry our detailed surveys of three major routes across the Great North Forest.  Members of the group took days off work, postponed holidays, and in some cases worked nineteen hour days to get the job done on time.
