Registering a birth
You must register the birth of your baby within 42 days of the date of the birth.
You may be able to change a birth record after the original registration has taken place by re-registration. A birth can be re-registered to either include the natural father's details or where parents later marry each other.
When you are celebrating the birth of your new baby, you may feel the need for a special occasion to gather together your closest family and friends.
Registering a stillbirth
A still-born child is legally defined as a child born after the 24th week of pregnancy who did not, at any time after being born, breathe or show any other signs of life.
