The new Wear bridge will be a three span cable-stayed bridge with an A-frame pylon rising to 105m (344ft) crossing the River Wear between Castletown on the north to Pallion on the south bank.

A multi-million pound project to build a new road bridge over the River Wear in Sunderland is underway.
The construction contract for the new Wear crossing has been awarded to a joint venture between two companies. They are Farrans Construction and Victor Buyck Steel Construction.
