Sunderland's new bridge
How the new Wear bridge will measure up...
The new Wear bridge will be a three span cable-stayed bridge with an A-frame pylon rising to 105m (344ft) crossing the River Wear between Castletown on the north to Pallion on the south bank.
The new bridge will cross the river from the A1231 Wessington Way to join with the B1405 European Way/Pallion New Road in Pallion on the south bank.
See road works and closures, access to Enterprise Park and other areas around the new Wear bridge, reduced speed limits and construction works on an interactive map.
The New Wear Crossing is scheduled to open in spring 2018.
The New Wear Crossing is a £117.6 million project that brings together specialist partners from the private and public sector from across Europe.
Sunderland's first new bridge in over 40 years
Work on the New Wear Crossing project began in May this year.
