Registration Services
We provide a service for the public to carry out their legal duties to register all births, stillbirths, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships occurring in the Sunderland Registration District. We licence venues where civil marriages and civil partnerships may be conducted and registered and provide naming, renewal of vows, and citizenship ceremonies. We hold records of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships which have taken place in Sunderland dating back to 1st July 1837 and can issue copy certificates of those records.
Whether you are needing to register a birth, stillbirth or a death, arranging a civil wedding or partnership or making arrangements for your citizenship ceremony our trained, expert staff will be happy to help and advise.
