Active Sunderland 321 Routes
The Active Sunderland 321 routes are three separate and enjoyable circular routes of varying distances which you can walk, jog or run.
Washington Way offers beautiful green spaces, interesting wildlife and key heritage attractions along the way.
Give yourself a boost, get outside, get active and reconnect with history and nature with Sunderland City Council's heritage walks.
Wellness walking programme
Our wellness walking programme is an accredited national walking health scheme. Walks include those aimed at beginners and advanced walkers, as well as Nordic walks and "Mums On The Move" walks for new mothers and their children.
Nordic walking... a way to wellness
Nordic walking uses special poles that exercise the upper body muscles as well as the legs when walking.
Sunderland Walking Network
The network aims to ensure that all walking organisations, clubs and groups work together to improve health and well-being.
Volunteer Walk Leader recruitment and training
If you wish to take up a more active role in the Wellness Walking Programme, you could train to become a volunteer walk leader.
National Walking Month
May is National Walking Month and whether you fancy a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk, there's plenty on offer to help you take some extra steps!
