Alcohol, drugs and substance misuse
Sunderland City Council's Drug and Alcohol Team provides access to treatment and rehabilitation services for people aged over 18 who wish to address their drug or alcohol problems.
We work closely with specialist health and voluntary services locally and regionally to give the best access to services for each individual.
We also offer support to carers and can carry out a carers assessment.
We aim to arrange services quickly and will ask people for information about themselves and their situation and how urgent their need for help is. Other professionals may also need to be involved such as doctors to make sure people get all the help they need. People will be involved in the process so that they know what is going on at all times.
Everyone is an individual, therefore services offered will be different depending on their needs. Together we will try to agree on the best way to help. Please see the Contacts section on the right of this page for information on how to get in touch with the service.
