Heritage Open Days
Take part in Heritage Open Days and explore the history of Sunderland. With a programme of walks and talks and many buildings opening their doors to the public for the first time you are sure to find something to interest you.

DVD Offer
Hire a DVD from our wide range of titles and borrow another for free. This offer excludes new releases and is limited to three items per customer.
Space Hop – One Giant Leap for Libraries!
Young readers are invited to go intergalactic as they take part in this summer's FREE Reading Challenge, discovering the joy of reading books and developing a keen interest in the science of space travel along the way. Libraries are also teaming up with new CBBC programme 'Space Hoppers' and the BBC's Year of Science.
Children can join the Space Hop for free at any Library and there are Space Hop themed events for children throughout the summer, for a full list of activities please see the

Dig In with Sunderland Libraries
Sunderland Libraries have signed up to support the BBC Dig In Campaign, a campaign which aims to get more people to grow and cook their own vegetables. From Monday 5 July each of Sunderland's Public Libraries will be giving away 5 packets of seeds (carrots, courgettes, basil, french beans and salad leaves) to any adult who borrows two or more books, including one gardening book. The offer is available while stocks last.
