Houghton Feast 3rd – 12th October 2008
There's something for everyone at this years Houghton Feast with a host of exciting activities and events taking place. The traditional 10-day festival provides a unique mix of community, voluntary and professionally staged events that will ensure a diverse and enjoyable programme.

The Opening Ceremony will take place Friday 3rd October, 7pm. This event is not to be missed as visitors are treated to a Grand Illumination Ball.		 houghton feast


Local schools and community groups have been working throughout September to create dazzling lantern displays. Come along and see the results as the Broadway is illuminated and the feast is opened with musical performances. Cllr Mary Smith, the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Sunderland will switch on the feast illuminations and officially open the Festival of Houghton Feast 2008.

Highlights of the Feast 2008 will include; the annual Carnival Parade, roasting of the Ox, fireworks spectacular, the Houghton Dance & Performing Arts Academy’s Grand Variety Show and the Houghton Feast Horticultural Show.
