'Community Consultation' is the overall term used by Sunderland City Council to refer to the range of activities that supports the involvement of residents, service users and non users, and businesses in decision making processes, shaping and informing the way services are delivered and working with the council to improve their communities.

Sunderland City Council is committed to listening to, and acting upon, the views of the local community and in October 2000 we approved the Community Consultation Framework, which has since been updated to the Community Consultation Strategy 2007-2012.

These pages provide an explanation of the council's approach to consultation. You can also use these pages to find out about consultation exercises taking place in your area.
