Welcome to“Sunderland
Then and Now”.
The aim
of this service is to make the fascinating
visual resources of the Sunderland Public Libraries Local
Studies Collection available
to all. This has been made possible by digitising
photographs, slides and posters from the collection
that represent the colourful
history of the local area. Also available are
recent digital photographs that allow comparisons
to be made between how Sunderland
used to look and how it looks today. New images
are regularly being added to the service.
You can participate in the project by submitting your own comments about any of the items. Also welcomed are any general enquiries or suggestions about the project. We hope that you enjoy using “Sunderland Then and Now” and will become a frequent visitor to the service.
