Adolescence can be a difficult time for many young people. It is a time of change. Some people treat you like an adult, some people treat you like a child, and some people don't know how to treat you. Sometimes people find that they need some help and support with some of the difficulties this can cause. This is where we can help. The Adolescent Mental Health Team aim to provide help and support for young people who are experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties. Some of the common feelings young people experience are being frightened, worried, angry, sad and depressed. Some young people feel so bad that they can't see any future for themselves. Feeling like this can be very upsetting but there are ways in which we can help to try and make things better. There is a leaflet available called "Barnes Unit - Adolescent Mental Health Team" (
852kb) which provides more information about the team and the service it provides. For a copy of the leaflet, please contact
one of our Children's Services offices
( 28kb) or the Barnes Unit, Durham Road, Sunderland SR3 4AF tel: 0191 522 7739.
