Adoption is not something that happens once and then is finished with.  It is a life-long continuing event for all those who are touched by it.  In recognition of this the After Adoption Service was set up in Sunderland.  This service is available for anyone touched by adoption. 

The service offers:- 

• Confidential advice and counselling
• The opportunity to meet other people whose lives have been touched by adoption
• A support group for adoptive parents
• Advice and guidance for all people involved in After Adoption contact
• An intermediary service for adopted people who wish to contact their birth family
• Training/workshops on matters relating to Adoption and After Adoption issues
• Consultancy service to other professionals.
