Hello and welcome to Sunderland Study Support web pages, it is hoped these
pages enable you to find out more about the Schoolz Out! Programme,
the benefits of Out of Out of School Hours Learning,
what is happening in the City's Schools and How
You Can Help.
Study Support, also known as Out of School Hours Learning Activities (OSHLA)
and is described by the Department of Education and Skills (DfES)
as 'activities
that take place outside normal lessons which young people (aged 4
- 18) take part in voluntarily. Study Support refers to many
activities and its purpose is to improve young people's motivation, build
their self-esteem and help them to become more effective learners.
Above
all it aims to raise achievement.'
There
are a wide range of interesting Out of School Hours
Learning Activities taking place in each and every school in the
City of Sunderland.
As well as these clubs being fun and enjoyable there has been Proven
Research that indicates that properly co-ordinated activities
does improve young peoples motivation, increases their confidence and
self esteem and help them to become more effective learners - leading
to raised achievement.
It
is envisaged that these pages will be a useful tool for everyone that has an interest
in Study Support/Out of School Hours Learning Activities.
