Membership
Anyone living, working, studying and
visiting Sunderland can become a member of any library across the city
regardless of age.
Join your local library up until 31 March 2008 and receive a FREE environmentally friendly and ethically produced 'bag for life' when you borrow your first book, CD or DVD.
Customers do not need to show any form of identification to receive
their free library card.
Being a member of your local library gives you access to:
• Over three quarters of a million books and other items
• Music CDs and DVDs to loan
• FREE access to the Internet
• Access to the mobile library service
• Books on wheels
• Homework support clubs
• Book clubs
• Large print books and talking books
• Children's story time sessions
• Study facilities and courses
What’s more you don’t need to live in Sunderland to be a member and you can use your library membership card at any one of the city’s 20 public libraries.

Please note:
Customers who forget or misplace their library card, and require library staff to access their personal details, will still be asked to provide relevant identification.
Children under 14 must have the signature of a parent or guardian.
