Providing picture books to help encourage the reading habit and promote literacy in the very young, as well as story times for Under Fives at all libraries
Homework
Help Clubs are new centres situated in libraries to help young people with
their
homework. In each club you will
find PC's for general use, books and CD-ROMs for reference and trained homework
helpers for advice and support. There
are currently Homework Help clubs at the City Library and Arts Centre,
Washington Town Centre Library and Houghton Library. From September there
will be Youth Worker sessions at all homework clubs.

Our Chatterbooks Reading Clubs for children aged between 8 - 12 years offer lots of different
events and activities to develop and encourage a love of books and reading.
Activities include storytelling sessions, author visits and themed
reading.
