| SUNDERLAND CITY COUNCIL, PLAY AND URBAN GAMES AWARDED PLAY PATHFINDER STATUS |
![]() |
Sunderland City Council have been awarded £2.5 million to invest in the future of play within the city. The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) have selected 20 Play Pathfinder authorities throughout the country, to receive capital and revenue funding to invest in their play infrastructure. The Government’s aim is to invest in 3,500 play areas as part of £235m Government commitment to children’s play. The Children’s Plan highlighted the importance that Government now places on improving play opportunities for children. It is a fundamental shared aim for parents and Government that children should enjoy their childhood, and better play environments is a key way to support this.
