Play Tyne and Wear Cluster Group was formed to promote collaborative working amongst Tyne and Wear local authorities and other key stakeholders and is responsible for the strategic development of play within Tyne and Wear.  The partnership was formed to ensure that play is high on the agenda and embedded into all plans and developments in the area. The Vision of Play Tyne and Wear

"To develop a network of high-quality, accessible, safe and creative play opportunities and facilities which contribute to making Tyne and Wear an area people want to live in and be proud of".

The Principles of Play Tyne and Wear

The underlying principles for this vision are:

  • Share good practice on areas of play;
  • Develop joint initiatives - celebrations;
  • Coordinate a partnership approach to raise the profile of Play Tyne and Wear;
  • Ensure that the play workforce in Tyne and Wear has access to high quality play development and training.

The Aims of Play Tyne and Wear

Play Tyne and Wear works towards an annual action plan to:

  • Raise awareness and support and coordinate training for play development;
  • Support, develop and implement a communication plan to raise the profile of play in Tyne and Wear;
  • Identify and share good play practice and learn from others;
  • Establish Play Tyne and Wear and sustain its position.

To fulfil our aims we rely on the support and input of key partners in the county.
