Housing Policies went on first deposit on the 14th January 2002.  

The 6 week consultation period, during which comments on proposed housing policies can be made, ended on the 25th February 2002. Links to housing policies and other supporting documents are below.

Specific sites for housing are not being considered until each area chapter in the UDP is reviewed.

The city of Sunderland UDP was adopted in 1998.  Since then there have been important changes in national planning policies particularly with regards to housing, a national target has been set for 60% of new housing to be developed on previously used land and concentrated in existing urban areas.

The four main themes covering housing in Sunderland are:
