Planning Policy Section

The Planning Policy Section is responsible for preparing and reviewing the City's Development Plans, compiling information about land-use in Sunderland, as well as co-ordinating the Council's approach to sustainable development. Unitary Development Plan (UDP) - Information relating to the adopted Development Plan for the City, also includes information relating to the UDP Alteration No.2.

Local Development Framework (LDF) - Information relating to the LDF including the Core Strategy, Local Development Scheme, Housing Allocations, and other Development Plan Documents.

Research and Information- Business, land use, and land availability information, particularly relating to housing and business land. Information service includes Census and other statistical information.

Sustainability- Information relating to what the Sustainability Team does, reducing carbon emissions, eco-footprints, and becoming a fair trade city.

Hotels - Information relating to hotels includes links to tourism, business investment, and planning policy guidance.

Cycling - Information relating to the strategic development of cycling in the City, also includes electronic versions of the new Sunderland cycling maps, and links to cycling routes and websites.

Regional Spatial Strategy - Key documents and information relating to The North East of England Plan Regional Spatial Strategy to 2021.
