Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004), the City Council adopted its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) on 22nd November 2006. The SCI sets out how the Council proposes to engage communities and stakeholders in not only the preparation of local development documents but also the consideration of planning applications. The SCI was prepared in the light of consultation with community groups, other organisations and stakeholders. The SCI was tested for soundness at an examination by an Independent Inspector and incorporates binding recommendations. Copies of the adopted Statement of Community Involvement, Adoption Statement, and Inspectors Report are available for public inspection at Reception on the 3rd floor at Sunderland Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland free of charge on Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 5.45pm and Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm and at all libraries within Sunderland during normal opening hours.
