Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment |
|
The matter of housing need
and supply is paramount to the success of the City.
The City Council is
currently examining the issue of housing as part of the preparation of its
Local Development Framework (LDF) - the strategic planning document that
will be used to shape and direct the development of land in Sunderland
until 2021.
An important part of the LDF will be the Housing Allocation Development Plan Document (DPD) this will provide planning policy and guidance in relation to housing need and detail where new housing can be built. A Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is now being prepared which will provide information about sites with potential for new housing within Sunderland. The information in the SHLAA will inform the Core Strategy DPD and the Housing Allocations DPD. Tyne & Wear SHLAA Partnership The Partnership would like to invite landowners, developers, planning agents and local stakeholders to submit details of sites for consideration as potential housing development opportunities for inclusion within the SHLAA. You are invited to submit new sites by that you, or your client(s), believe may be suitable for housing, and which:

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment will follow. Housing in Sunderland for the next 5 years As required by Government planning policy in PPS3 "Housing" Sunderland City Council is preparing a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) that will assess the deliverability and developability of housing sites over a 15 year period. This will support the policies of the Core Strategy and Housing Allocations development plan documents. In the interim, as also required by PPS3, the Council must be able to demonstrate that it can identify and maintain a 5 year supply of deliverable housing sites. The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) has published guidance for undertaking this assessment.
