The services provided by the Landscape, Reclamation and Countryside Section include:

  1. Preparing, monitoring and managing the Council's derelict land reclamation programme
  2. Commissioning the design and implementation of landscape and environmental improvement schemes
  3. Assisting in the preparation, design and implementation of derelict land reclamation schemes
  4. Planning and implementing environmental and access improvements in the countryside
  5. Liaising with other agencies concerned with Nature Conservation and Countryside Management
  6. Supporting the management of Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserves in the City, in liaison with local people and land owners and conservation organisations.
  7. Providing advice on derelict land reclamation, landscape and countryside matters.
  8. Environmental education, producing interpretative information on countryside matters.
  9. Ecological and Geological Services

As Sunderland City Council is a Unitary Authority with a Unitary Development Plan, there is no requirement to have individual Mineral or Waste Plans, therefore information relating to these can be found via the following path www.sunderland.gov.uk/udp and  by going to the hyperlink 'Full UDP' and looking under Part II in the Environment Section.
