Equality in council services

Sunderland City Council is committed to equality of opportunity and the elimination of discrimination for all people when managing and delivering services. To support this we are putting in place systems to manage equality, this being a requirement of the Equality Standard for Local Government. This includes carrying out equality assessments on all services, functions, projects and policies, setting equality actions and targets, installing equality monitoring and carrying out consultation with community groups.
