Council equality representatives

There are two main working groups across Sunderland City Council that bring together council officers at a strategic level to work on equality and diversity issues, and take forward this agenda within their own departments. These groups are:

Community Cohesion Officers Group
This group is chaired by the Director of Development and Regeneration and the lead council officer for Community Cohesion. This group is made up of Directors and Heads of Service across the council, and meets every other month. The members of this group come from:

Equality Steering Group
This group is chaired by the Assistant Chief Executive and lead council officer for the equalities agenda across the council. This group meets every month, and steers the council’s progress through levels one to five of the Equality Standard for Local Government. The group comes from:
