Chief Executives The Chief Executive is the head of the Council's paid service. He is the chief advisor on all matters of policy and has overall responsibility for ensuring that the Council's programme is carried out.
Children's Services Children’s Services provide a wide range of services to children and young people from 0-19 years and their families. This includes services to help children and young people to be healthy, to be safe, to enjoy and achieve, to be good citizens and to achieve economic well-being.
Community and Cultural Services Responsible for Strategy Development over a wide range of front line service areas which include street care, leisure and sports development, parks, libraries, museums and tourism, public health, trading standards, cemeteries and crematorium, and registrars.
Corporate Services Responsible for a range of strategic, corporate support and front line services including Financial Services, Insurance and Risk Management, Personnel, Legal and Democratic Services, Council Tax Collection, Housing and Council Tax Benefits.
Development and Regeneration Responsible for a wide range of activities to support the physical and economic regeneration of the City including all Local Planning activities, Transportation and Engineering, Regeneration Programmes and Job Creation Schemes, Housing Strategy, European Programmes, Property Services and the Port of Sunderland.
Health, Housing and Adult Services Supports vulnerable adults in Sunderland by providing a wide range of services to meet their assessed needs. Each day we work with hundreds of people who may need our services at times of personal or family crisis. Others may require help and support to enable them to live as independently as possible in the community.
